Crocheted Baby Blanket

When I found out I was pregnant with my son, I was sure I was having a girl.  I went to the store and bought pink and purple yarn to make a baby blanket.  Well, it turns out I had a boy.  Once I found out I was having a boy, I put the project away.  A few weeks ago I found it and decided to finish it for a friend who is having a girl...

The pattern is really easy.  I used a size K hook and 3 colors of yarn (pink, purple, and white).  I don't remember how many stitches across, but just chain until you think it is wide enough.

Rows 1-4 (pink):  double chrochet
Rows 5-6 (white):  triple crochet
Rows 7-10 (purple):  double crochet
Rows 11-12 (white):  triple crochet
Repeat this pattern until it is long enough.  End with purple.

Essentially, double crochet four rows with one color, triple crochet two rows with white, and then double crochet 4 rows with the other color, go back to white, and repeat until the end.  Pretty simple, and very pretty!

A Few Photos From Our Yard

I love our yard.  Since we have only been in our house 3 months, we are still figuring things out and trying to get the weeds under control, but I love the trees and plants that are already there and thriving.  We have an established apple tree and it is in full bloom right now.  I couldn't help but snap a few pictures.  It is gorgeous.

Sew your own Cloth Diapers

Cloth diapers seem to be becoming more popular these days, so I decided to try them out.  However, there was no way I was going to pay $25 for one cloth diaper!  At JoAnn's I had seen Babyville Boutique products, and thought that they were just the cutest things ever!  They went on sale for 50% off, so I decided to try them out!

The Perfect Strawberry Pie!

My husband is a tax accountant and works 90 hours per week for about 2 months every year.   To celebrate the end of tax season (April 15th), I made this wonderful pie!  I had the hardest time finding a simple strawberry pie recipe that sounded like it would work.  I had made strawberry pie once before, and it was super runny, so I was a little hesitant.  This one isn't like that at all.  It is perfect!

Disappearing Nine-Patch Quilt

This was a Christmas gift I made for one of my friends.  I hadn't made a quilt in a while and I really had the desire to make one, so I did!

Mount Photos on Canvas (to look like canvas prints)

This was a project I did for Christmas, and I was going to wait until after Christmas to post about.  Well, it is definitely after Christmas.  I do have numerous excuses for the delay (mainly that we bought a house and moved), but at least I am finally posting this!

Puppy Halloween Costume (for toddler)

I apologize for my lack of blogging, but I have a fun post for today!  Halloween was a couple weeks ago, but I just had to share this.  I want a dog REALLY bad.  I have always loved dogs (and am brainwashing my son into loving them too), but we live in a townhouse without a yard so it is not very practical for us to have a dog here (my husband recently did agree to let me get a bunny after Thanksgiving though!).  So, since I can't have a dog here, I decided to make my son be a dog for Halloween!
